Doug Sanderson is an experienced adjudicator, mediator and investigator who has dealt with hundreds of cases involving harassment, discrimination and the duty to accommodate under the Ontario Human Rights Code. Doug is also well versed in labour and employment law as a result of his work in private practice and in-house positions.

Doug has successfully resolved numerous workplace disputes through mediation and adjudication and has experience conducting procedurally fair, balanced and timely investigations. With over 25 years of labour and employment law experience, Doug is well placed to assist parties to resolve their workplace disputes.

Human Rights
As a Vice-Chair at the Human Rights Tribunal of Ontario, Doug developed significant experience and expertise in all aspects of human rights law. He mediated and adjudicated hundreds of human rights complaints alleging discrimination and harassment in respect of employment, housing and services.
About Doug Sanderson
Prior to starting his private adjudication, mediation and investigation practice, Doug practiced labour and employment law with a major international law firm, representing and advising employers in a variety of matters including workplace human rights, formation and termination of employment relationships and litigation.
Doug was a Vice-Chair at the Human Rights Tribunal of Ontario between January 2011 and January 2021. In that role, he adjudicated Applications under the Human Rights Code, including cases concerning workplace harassment and discrimination, the duty to accommodate in employment and post-secondary education, and reprisal. Doug was also a successful mediator and resolved dozens of cases through mediation and mediation-adjudication. Doug was also assigned to manage cases posing difficult procedural issues and particularly disputatious parties because of his excellent case and hearing management skills.
Doug also has experience working an in-house role at a major Canadian bank. In that role, he addressed all manner of employee relations issues. In particular, Doug was responsible for conducting investigations of complaints of harassment and discrimination and other workplace complaints and for training colleagues to conduct fair, effective and timely investigations.
Doug recently began working for the Canadian Industrial Relations Board adjudicating wage and unjust dismissal complaints under the Canada Labour Code as an external adjudicator.
